- Identify the target behavior. The target behavior is the behavior that you are trying to change. It should be a specific, observable, and measurable behavior. Once you have identified the target behavior, you can begin to collect data on its frequency, duration, and intensity.
- Conduct an ABC analysis. An ABC analysis is a tool that can help you to identify the antecedents (triggers) and consequences that are maintaining the target behavior.
