To begin, I would initiate a conversation with the teacher to gain an understanding of their current teaching practices, strengths, areas for improvement, and their personal aspirations. This would involve active listening and asking probing questions to encourage self-reflection and self-assessment.

Once we have established a clear understanding of where the teacher is at, we would work together to set specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. These goals should align with the teacher’s professional development needs and aspirations, while also taking into consideration the broader goals of the school or educational institution.

To ensure the goals are effective and meaningful, I would encourage the teacher to prioritize a few key areas for growth rather than overwhelming themselves with numerous goals.
