One example of a time when I had to adapt my teaching strategies to meet the needs of a student with a speech or language impairment was during my time as a substitute paraprofessional in a special education classroom. To accommodate this student’s needs, I first familiarized myself with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) and consulted with the speech-language pathologist to better understand their specific challenges and goals.
